The Central Regional Minister, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, has asked district chief executives (DCEs) in the region to stop flooding his office with calls asking for civil servants to be transferred from the region because of their perceived political affiliations. 
 
“I don’t care whether somebody belongs to party A or B. What is important is to give careful thought to their work as professionals working to develop communities and the region at large,” he stressed.

The regional minister, who is on a tour of the region, gave the advice when he addressed heads of departments and management staff of the Upper Denkyira West District Assembly.

Work in concert
He has, meanwhile, urged technocrats in the region to not allow their political affiliations to affect their performance. In addition, he has asked managers of the assemblies to be courteous to the staff they work with. 

“Let us show respect to one another since it encourages hard work, which eventually leads to the uplift of the region. Moreover, let us be steadfast in our work so we can be part of the success story in the region,” he said.  

Mr Quansah cautioned staff of the assembly against lateness and absenteeism and further entreated them to not “assume that you are in a remote area so you can come to work anytime you want”.

 

Perseus mining
The minister also visited Perseus Mining Company(GH) Limited. He urged the management of the company to venture into other economic areas and consider the numerous opportunities that abound in the area.

“There is opportunity in agriculture, especially in agribusiness where value is added to what is produced. As the biggest company in the region, you must lead and encourage people to go into agriculture”, he said.

He commended the company for operating peacefully in the communities in which they were extracting minerals and exhibiting the spirit of good corporate citizenship.
