Passengers Stranded As Drivers Embark On Indefinite Strike

Passengers are stranded as drivers across the country are embarking on an indefinite strike action.

According to the aggrieved drivers, some policies prescribed by the amended road traffic regulations (LI 2180) and currently being implemented by the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) are unfriendly to them.

They are resisting plans by the DVLA to insist on seat belts for all passengers in buses and taxis.

According to some of PEACE FM correspondents across the country, long queues are formed at the various lorry stations even though there are cars available.

Some passengers who became tired of waiting in the queues either walked back home or call for the services of Okada (motor) riders.

Some Drivers working

Even though the strike is ongoing, PEACE FM correspondents in the Eastern and Western Regions, realised that the drivers were working.

Asked why they were working, the drivers claimed they had not received any directive or letter asking them to embark on an indefinite strike action.
