The President of the  Trinity Theological College, Legon, Rev. Dr. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante,   has urged Colleges of Education to contribute towards the development of tertiary education in the country.

He said Colleges of Education had been empowered like all other tertiary institutions, and the reality was that   government alone could not continue to sustain the welfare of students in the tertiary institutions.

Therefore, he said, all stakeholders must contribute to make the public tertiary institutions concept work effectively.

Rev.   Dr. Mante was addressing the Seventh Congregation of the Presbyterian College of Education at Kyebi, on the theme: “Tertiarisation: The New Phase Of Colleges of Education.”

He urged the administrators of the GETFUND to help improve the infrastructure at the Colleges of Education.

Rev. Dr. Mante urged the 153 graduates to be disciplined, God-fearing and innovative, to find alternate  solutions to problems in their schools and communities.

He advised them to continue to study and acquire more knowledge to apply for the benefit of other people.

The Principal of the School, Rev. B. Nkansa-Kyeremanteng, urged the graduates to let the training acquired,  propel them to greater heights in their careers, and  become good ambassadors of the school.

He said the school has undertaken projects like  the  renovation of the two-storey women block, through the school’s own internally generated funds, the acquisition of a generator plant donated by the current Students Representative Council(SRC) , a dining hall annex , which caters for 100 students at a time,  to ease congestion of students at the main hall.

Rev. Nkansa-Kyeremanteng appealed to government, stakeholders and alumni of the school, to assist in acquiring computers for its ICT centre, and vehicles to ease its transportation challenge .

In all, 153 students graduated , 95 males and 58 females.

The overall best student prize was given to Ameyaw George.
