The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) is to organise an Inter-denominational Memorial Church Service for the victims of last Wednesday’s fire and flood disaster which claimed over 150 lives in Accra.
The service is slated for Wednesday, June 10, at 6pm, at the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
The memorial service, which is in line with the three days of mourning declared by President John Mahama, is to contribute to the healing process of the nation and the families that have been affected.
This was contained in a press release issued by Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, General Secretary of the Council, and copied to the Ghanaian Times.
It said it would also offer a national platform for families and friends to gather and remember the deceased while offering support and comfort to one another in such moment of national grieve.
“The Council has also invited the affected families, friends, church leaders, government officials, political parties, corporate organisations, diplomats and members of the media to attend the service,” it added.
“It is our prayer that out good Lord will comfort the affected families and deliver us from any future tragedy,” it stated.
The Council encourages everyone with 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 which read, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God,” it stressed.
