Court To Rule On Ali Gabass Case Today

An Accra Circuit court presided over by Mrs Agyemang Budu will today rule on the sodomy case involving a senior medical officer at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr. Sulley Ali-Gabass.

He has been in custody over a two-count charge of defiling a child under 16 years and unnatural carnal knowledge, an offence he has denied.

He is alleged to have in the months of October 2013 and April 2014 at Kasoa and Alajo, had unnatural carnal knowledge of the victim aged 15.

The victim is said to have contracted the deadly HIV disease, but Dr Ali- Gabass has denied infecting him with the disease.

The child is also said to have suffered serious injuries to his anal region and had to be operated on.

Lawyers of Ali Gabass had earlier prayed the court to dismiss the prosecution’s claim and discharge the medical doctor of the charges of allegedly sodomizing a 16-year-old boy.

But the court dismissed the application of no case filed, arguing that the defense were unable to discredit the evidence by prosecution witnesses and could not on the face of the evidence available to grant the plea of Dr. Gabass.
