A Thirty-Six-year old man, Kwabena Joe, alias Kobby, last Sunday, July 19, 2015 allegedly killed his seventy-two year old mother, Afua Baby at Akyem Banso in the Atiwa district of the Eastern Region.
He also inflicted several cutlass wounds on his eighty-two-year old father, Opanin Ohemeng who tried to rescue the wife.
Residents of Banso accounts which were corroborated by the police had it that Joe, who is said to be a habitual wee smoker, was on that fateful day confronted by the mother who detected theft of some iron rods purchased by another son for a building project. The deceased who had earlier seen Joe holding one of the rods asked him the whereabouts of the missing rods.
The question infuriated Joe who picked a pestle the mother was using to pound fufu to hit the neck of the mother killing her instantly.
His father who tried to assist the wife to the hospital was also attacked with a cutlass. After the horrific act, Joe was seen drinking some concoction.
Thinking that he might have taken poisonous substance, the people rushed him and the father to the Akyem Enyiresi Government hospital.
Before the doctors could attend to him, Joe jumped out of his sick bed and has still not been seen while his father is responding to treatment.
Meanwhile, the police in the area are combing everywhere to re-arrest the fugitive. They have also appealed to residents of Banso and the public to help arrest the alleged murderer.
