Ghanaians Urged To Support The Brand Ghana Concept

Ghanaians have been urged to support the brand Ghana concept. Mrs Dzifa Gomashie, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, urged members of the public to support the concept which is geared towards promoting the country’s image.

The deputy minister said one of the ways to help brand the country is to change the narratives through movies by portraying the true cultural heritage of the country to the outside world.

Mrs Gomashie said this at the South Africa Tourism West Africa Road Show/ Trade Workshop held in Accra on Tuesday.

She urged Ghanaians to strive not to be a photocopy of each other’s business but form alliance to move their enterprises forward.

Mrs Gomashie commended the South Africa Tourism Industry for the workshop which would help in the exchange of ideas and information between the two countries, as well promoting their various products.

She said the government of Ghana is very committed to promoting the tourism industry and creative arts, and called for more collaboration with other member African countries to brand the continent.

Ms Lulama Xingwana, South Africa's High Commissioner, said South Africa is one of the top tourist destinations in the world with beautiful cities and a hospitable people.

She said selling South Africa in Ghana is very important as it would help create employment and increased revenue for both countries.

The South Africa Tourism West Africa Road Show responsible for making South Africa a top tourist destination is currently focusing on Ghana and the Nigeria market by organizing trade workshops.

In all, 20 product owners from South Africa are participating at the workshop which intended to provide excellent opportunity to engage their Ghanaian counterparts in selling authentic African leisure experience.
