Ardent NPP member, Okatakyie Kwame Opoku Agyemang has rendered an unqualified apology to the flagbearer of his party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his ‘uncultured attitude’ towards him years back.

Okatakyie who campaigned for the thrice-defeated flagbearer aspirant of the NPP, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen to be elected as a flagbearer of the party ahead of the 2016 general elections threw caution to the wind and attacked Nana Addo.

He was purported to have said – “How can a 72-year-old Nana Addo overturn 323,663 votes of 57-year-old John Mahama, who doubles as an incumbent president? If Nana Addo had something positive for the NPP, he could have done so in both the 2008 and 2012 general elections. It is thus imperative for the NPP delegates to replace Nana Addo with Alan Kyerematen in the upcoming NPP Congress”.

Okatakyie Agyemang argued that Nana Addo had failed to win the power that he promised to deliver to the NPP on two occasions that he was given the opportunity to lead the party.

He wondered why some members of the NPP continued to root for Nana Addo to be given a third chance to lead the party simply because – “He [Nana Addo] could get sympathy votes like the late President Mills”.

Okatakyie on numerous interviews rained insults on Nana Addo – but it is not clear whether Alan Kyerematen endorsed his utterances.

However, the outspoken NPP member now has a change of mind and seems to have the faith that Nana Addo can win election 2016.

Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show "Ghana Montie", Okatakyie Kwame Opoku Agyemang says despite his earlier affronts he wants to join Nana Addo’s campaign for victory.

He pleaded with Nana Addo to – “please forgive me. I goofed big time. We are sometimes charged by the crowd and say things which we later regret...that is politics. I am hopeful that Nana Addo will forgive me since he preached unity in the party [NPP].”

He further told host Kwasi Aboagye that, he is hoping to see Nana Addo – “I will kneel down hold his legs and beg him, he should please forgive me”
