Former NDC Dept. Youth Organizer: I Have Evidence; NDC Gave Out Gh75,000 To Register Togolese Nationals

Former Deputy Youth Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Hohoe Constituency, Mr. Harker Brempong is daring NDC National executives to challenge him over his accusation that Togolese nationals voted in Ghana during the 2012 and previous elections.

According to him, he has evidence to prove that the NDC employed the services of some Togolese nationals who crossed the border to register and subsequently voted in Hohoe and other parts of the Volta region for the ruling NDC.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, the Hohoe branch Chairman for some disappointed NDC youth in Volta region was quoted as saying the NDC leadership gave out Gh¢75,000 to thank the Togolese nationals but then the money was shared between the former deputy regional youth organizer and the current Hohoe Constituency chairman.

He emphasized saying; “the Constituency chairman took Gh¢35,000 and then the former deputy youth organizer for the region took Gh¢40,000”, adding that the arrangement to bring in the Togolese nationals towards the 2012 polls was made through the Municipal Chief Executive [MCE] in Hohoe.

“I will prove it; I have evidence…the party executives, our MCE and other executives are those people who went and made the arrangement with the people [Togolese nationals] towards the voter’s polls,” he alleged.

Citing his evidence, Mr. Harker Brempong specified that “I wrote a petition to President Mahama, the NDC founder [former President Rawlings], the Regional chairman of NDC and then Regional Minister [Hon. Afotey Agbo]”, indicating that they are all aware of his petition.

He insisted the contract was given to them to register the Togolese nationals by the NDC Executives through the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE); stressing “I know the police can arrest me but I have evidence to prove to them. We were agents through out the registration was made so I can prove it.”

He therefore stated that the NDC members who have already joined the opposition NPP are numbering about 2,650 as they see the NDC government as fake which has failed to improve the lives of the youth as promised.

He assured these NDC disappointed members will canvass for a change in the Volta region, hence this confession and revelation to tell the country that the people in the region are ready for a change.
