Avram Grant Drops Christian Atsu for Nations Cup Qualifier

Black Stars coach, Avram Grant has named a 23-man squad for the national team's upcoming 2017 Africa cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda.


The Black Stars face the Amavubi in Kigali on September 3 in a match day 2 qualifying game for the next AFCON slated for Gabon.

Conspicuously missing is England based Christian Atsu who has yet to kick a ball this term for new Premier League boys, Bournemouth following a pre-season injury which has now also cost him his national team place.

Returning to the side since the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations final in Equatorial Guinea is deputy captain, Andre Ayew who has relatively taken the English Premier League by storm after scoring in his first two games for Swansea City who also remain unbeaten in three matches thus far.

Defender Jonathan Mensah who is currently unattached to aclub after leaving relegated French side, Evian TG is also named by the Israeli tactician ina strong 23-man squad led by China based captain, Asamoah Gyan.
