Election Violence: NDC And NPP Join Hands

Although the ongoing Akwatia elections have reported several electoral irregularities, some leading members of the political parties, Mr Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC, and Mr Peter Mac Manu, the National Chairman of the NPP, have joined hands as a symbol of Peace during and after the elections. The most common electoral irregularities reported from the area are double voting and people voting for others. Aside that, there are no reported cases of violence in the area as happened last week. Reporting from Akwatia, our correspondent, Obeng Manu, revealed that, the two party leaders held hands moving from one polling centre to the other to help the electoral commission conduct smooth elections. Speaking on Peace FM news, Mr Asiedu Nketia and Mac Manu said, they felt bad about the reported violence last Sunday and do not want any such incident to occur again, so they have joined hands as a symbol of peace, to make the elections successful. According to them, it is also a sign to the youth not to fight each other because of their political difference. They said, with oneness, Ghana would move forward.
