Ghana Names Home-Based Contingent For All Africa Games

The title holders have been forced to neglect its foreign-based members due to problems in the acquisition of funds. Ghana have named an all locally-based side for the 2015 All Africa Games to be held in Congo Brazzaville. This was revealed after coach Malik Jabir named a 20-man squad for the competition which runs from September 4 to 19. According to Goals sources, the exclusion of foreign-based players is a result of the Ministry of Sports inability to release funds for traveling arrangements of players involved. The 20-man team includes six players who represented Ghana at the 2013 Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Turkey comprising Richard Ofori, Eric Ofori-Antwi, Baba Mensah, Lawrence Lartey, Jeremiah Akorful and Kennedy Ashia, while BA Uniteds Patrick Asmah and WAFAs Samuel Tetteh both played at the 2015 Fifa Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand. The Black Meteors are set to compete in Group B alongside Senegal, Nigeria and Egypt. Ghana, then led by deputy Black Stars coach Maxwell Konadu, are the defending champions of the competition following a 4-2 penalty triumph over South Africa after a 1-1 stalemate after extra time at the 2011 edition in Mozambique. Full Squad: Goalkeepers: Richard Ofori (Wa All Stars), Eric Ofori Antwi (Kotoko), Felix Annan (WAFA) Defenders: Amos Acheampong (Tamale Utrecht), Emmanuel Nti Mensah (New Edubiase United), Richard Osei Agyemang (Berekum Chelsea), Baba Mensah (Inter Allies), Lawrence Lartey (AshantiGold), Patrick Kojo Asmah (BA United), Jeremiah Arkorful (Tema Youth) Midfielders: Sadiq Alhassan (Wa All Stars), Abdul Latif Anabila (New Edubiase United), Kennedy Ashia, Tamimu Muntari (Liberty Professionals), Conney Idan, Kwame Boahene (Medeama) Forwards: Dauda Mohammed (Kotoko), Bright Adjei (Tema Youth), Richard Gadze (Ebusua Dwarfs), Samuel Tetteh (WAFA)
