Dan Botwe Blames Opponents

The Member of Parliament for Okere constituency in the Eastern Region, Hon. Dan Botwe who was an NPP polling agent in the just ended Akwatia re-run election has questioned the conduct and efficiency of the security personnel who were in charge of the elections. According to the Member of Parliament, the poor conduct of the security personnel was part of the cause of the violence in Akwatia last Sunday. There were several reported cases of violence, including the smashing of cars by some party faithfuls. He said, although they are doing their best to combat armed robbery and other crimes in the country the conduct of some security personnel in the area was unprofessional. He reiterated: I dont want to discourage anyone, but I must say their conduct was unpleasant. He alleged that, some NDC activists were seen causing all kinds of violence against the NPP including smashing their cars, brutalizing them, and engaging in various forms of harassment in the presence of the police but they failed to arrest the perpetrators. He said on realizing the serious situation, he called the NDC candidate for Akwatia, Hon. Baba Jamal, the Deputy National Organiser of the NDC, Opanyin Yaw Boateng Gyan and several others to come and join hands with the NPP as a sign of oneness to let their youth stop fighting, but they failed to respond to it in time, and that worsened the situation. He reminded the security agencies that their duty is to maintain the rule of law by ensuring peace.
