James Kwabena Bonfeh, popularly known as Kabila on Tuesday filed his nomination papers to contest for the position of the General Secretary (GS) in the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

The party has fixed September 18 and September 19 for its national delegates congress to elect national officers to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

National Chairman aspirants of the party are to pay GH₡ 50,000.00 as filing fees, Vice Chairpersons are to pay GH₡ 35,000.00; General Secretary aspirants, GH₡ 30,000.00; National Treasurer GH₡ 20,000.00; National Organiser GH₡ 15,000.00 and National Youth and National Women Organisers, GH₡10,000.00 each.

In a statement released to the media on Tuesday, Kabila said when elected as the GS of the CPP, he will “Formulate with Publicity Committee the Party’s Communication lines and share with all spokespersons, Central Committee members, Publicity Committee members as well as any assigns who would actively speak to Ghana on “HOW THE CPP WOULD DO IT.”

Comrades, I appeal to you to vote James Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr aka Kabila as the ‘full-time’ General Secretary of the party and head of the National Secretariat comprising GS, Tr, Org, WO, YO.

1. I would make the Secretariat operate along three lines to make it functional:

1.       Structure and Systems [Constitution, Offices, Personnel]
2.       Finances [Dues, Levies, Fundraising, Donations, Grants]
3.       Communications [Message, Channels, Platforms/Media]

2. Revisit the January, 2007 Organizational Programme presented and adopted by CC to review it where necessary to become the new Organizational Programme with timelines for the rebuilding of the CPP to be presented by the Organizers for approval.

3. Draw a financial plan [Fundraising and Spending] with the secretariat team for the Treasurer to present to the CC for approval.

4. Complete an organogram with functions attached from National, through Region, to Constituency and Electoral Areas.

5. Formulate with Publicity Committee the Party’s Communication lines and share with all spokespersons, Central Committee members, Publicity Committee members as well as any assigns who would actively speak to Ghana on “HOW THE CPP WOULD DO IT.”

6. Research into national and international affairs and present policy issues to CC for approval and adoption through the Research and Political Committees.

7. Prepare and Present Periodic reports on programmes, activities and finances to CC for auditing and accountability purposes before onward transmission to the Constitutional Regulatory body of political parties ie the Electoral Commission.

8. Undertake outreach programmes:

                a. Regional Tour

                b. Campus visitation

                c. Religious engagements among the youth

9. Nurture and Rebuild strategic alliances or relationships with Organized Labour {TUC, GMA, GNAT, ICU, NAGRAT,} Professional bodies {GBA, UTAG, POTAG} Associations {GUTA, GNUPS, TTAG, NUGS}

10. Reconnect with our international affiliates and political allies eg: Socialist International and Labour Party.

To achieve the above Unity must be fostered among the elected national officers and the rank and file.

i.                     Go through team formation post congress by reconciling promises and patching differences during campaign
ii.                   Presenting a united elected officers programme
iii.                  Form the various committees under CC based purely on competences and political balance
iv.                 Enforce Party Discipline by enforcing constitutional dictates
v.                   Comply with the Political Parties Law, 2000; Act 574
vi.                 Assign National Officers to regions to be responsible for remote and immediate matters that require national attention.
vii.                Showcase new leadership to the public and the media as well as organize a thanks giving activity post congress.

THE SCRETARIAT BEING THE HEARTBEAT OF THE PARTY MUST BE PROACTIVE, RESPONSIVE, DYNAMIC AND RESPONSIBLE. Your man for that task is James Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr. (Kabila)
