I Was Called By God To Go To ParliamentNo Man Can Stop Me E.T. Mensah

NDC’s E.T. Mensah’s reign in Parliament might not be ending anytime soon – After 13 years as Nigo-Prampram Member of Parliament, he is not certain as to when he will resign from the august house.

According to the lawmaker – tagged as “Mugabe” by his constituency members, there is no duration to leave parliament.

Hon. E.T. Mensah who will be contesting his constituency MP primaries come November 7, noted that – “No one can force me to step aside” – that comes after many have called on him to evacuate the seat for other aspirants.

“God called me to go to parliament not human beings. If the time comes for me to resign, I will do that decently. I just laugh over calls by some for me to step down. I am working for God and country. So I will resign if I want to,” he said in an interview on NEAT FM’s morning show "Ghana Montie".

E.T. Mensah will face a tough contest in the party’s upcoming primaries – two-time aspirant, Michael Kwetey Tetteh has been tipped to win the election with Flagstaff House staffer, Sam George also in the Ningo-Prampram race.

The former Youth and Sports Minster in President Rawlings era describe as unhealthy – debate that long serving MP’s must pave the way for newcomers in Ghana’s parliament.

“Sometimes people think I don’t face competition when vying to be in parliament. It’s a competition and everyone has the chance of winning. That debate is a non-issue. Anyone who think it’s that easy to be in parliament should try it. The provocation alone will frustrate you to resign but I refuse to be provoked,” he said.

He noted that the electorates in his constituency still want him to represent them in parliament despite his age – “I am still strong and fit.”

He however refused to comment on Sam George’s claims that the Ningo-Prampram seat is not a property for the Mensah’s family - “I don’t deal with people who don’t respect. That is not my style. I am focused.”
