Surprising That Anybody Can Just Ask The CID To Investigate NPP Over "Missing" Party Funds Nana Akomea

The leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed surprise at recent happenings in the party.

First vice National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay, the party’s National Treasurer Abankwah Yeboah, are being investigated by the Police CID for diverting party funds.

A letter addressed to NPP Party Chairman Paul Afoko indicated that the two party executives have acted contrary to laid down financial procedures of the party.

Speaking to the issue in an interview on PEACE FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Nana Akomea, Communications Director of the party said even though they have heard of the invitation by the CID, they are still not clear on who reported the case or who asked for investigations to be carried out.

"I don’t know what the whole issue is about…we don’t even know who lodged the complaint,” he said.

According to him, a similar issue cropped up during a NEC meeting a few days ago; leading to the formation of a five-man committee to investigate and write a report on the financial status of the party.

“…and so I don’t know the head and tail of this issue…it is surprising that somebody can just get up and ask the CID to conduct an investigation….,” Nana Akomea stated.
