WAEC Withholds Results Of More Than 6,000 BECE Results For 2015

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released provisional results of candidates who wrote the June 2015 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). According to a press release issued in Accra Thursday, out of the 436,056 candidates who took the examination, the council had withheld the entire results of 6,812 pending the conclusion of investigations into alleged examination malpractice. Assurance It, however, gave an assurance that the withheld results would be released as soon as the investigations were concluded. The release, signed by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs of WAEC, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, said the council was in the process of dispatching the results to the schools through municipal/district directors of education. Online �Meanwhile, the council has hosted the results online and candidates who so desire may access their results online at the council�s website,� it said. Grading system It said the Stanine grading system was used for the BECE, with Grade One (1) as the highest and Grade Nine (9) being the lowest. The Stanine grading system is a method of scaling test scores on a nine-point standard scale.
