Leading NPP Man Praises Mills

Captain Nkrabea Effah-Darteh, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said that he has a lot of respect for President John Evans Atta Mills. He said, he is a decent man and I think he is also sincere. I have always had a lot of respect for him. Captain Effah-Darteh who made an attempt to become the presidential candidate of the NPP in 2008, was speaking on an Accra based radio stations current affairs programme hosted by the Editor of the Insight, Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr. Captain Effah-Darteh said Professor Mills taught him in Law school and he found him a principled man. He said however that he was not happy about Professor Mills choice of political party. I am not happy with him because he is not in may party. He belongs to the NDC and not the NPP and that is not good enough, he said. Captain Effah-Darteh said the Mills administration has failed to deliver on promises it made to the electorate. He also claimed that he was treated badly by some people in the New Patriotic Party when they decided to disqualify him from the contest to select the presidential candidate of the party. In spite of this, he said he remains loyal to the party because of its philosophy and commitment to improving the living standards of the masses. I believe in the concept of development in freedom, he said. When asked if he will try to become the Presidential candidate of the NPP again, he said in politics you never say never. Pressed further, he said if the right conditions mature, he may try again but he refused to confirm that he may try to become the candidate for the 2012 elections.
