Pentecost University Gives Free Healthcare To The Sowutuom And Israel Communities

The Pentecost University 10th Anniversary Medical Team comprising, Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses and other Paramedics drawn from the PUC Nursing Department, Pentecost Hospital, PENSA-Korlebu and Fidelity Bank on Saturday 24th October 2015 provided free medical care for over One Thousand (1,000) residents of the Sowutuom and Israel Communities.

The Medical Outreach which forms part of some corporate social responsibility projects outlined for the University’s 10th Anniversary celebrations was rolled out in two (2) Phases.

Whereas the 1st phase held on the PUC Sowutuom campus targeted residents of the University’s immediate surroundings, the 2nd Phase held at the Israel Park and the Sowutuom palace targeted residents of the Sowutuom, Lomnava, Alhaji and Israel communities.

The points of screening included body mass indexing, blood pressure checking, breast cancer screening, malaria testing, eye testing and dental screening. Residents were examined at various points and were given medication free of charge.

Mrs. Sabina Bilson, a member of the medical team and a lecturer at the PUC Department of Nursing in a press interaction said “Pentecost University’s interest is in developing the total person and that includes good health. This medical outreach is to us, one way of improving the living conditions of the Sowutuom and Israel communities.’’

Nii Osabu Kwei I, the chief of Sowutuom traditional area expressed gratitude to the Management of PUC for the kind gesture extended to the inhabitants of Sowutuom and asked that the University would continue the good works.
