JUSSAG To Withdraw Services?..."MoF, BoG, etc Are Taking Us For A Ride"

President of the Judicial Services Staff Association of Ghana, Mr. Alex Nartey says the problem associated with the work of public sector workers should be blamed on the Ministry of Finance, Controller and Accountant General and the Bank of Ghana.

According to him, these government institutions lack human face in dealing with the demands of public workers as every attempt in ironing out the pressing issues always fall on deaf ears.

The Judicial Services Staff Association of Ghana has threatened to withdraw services this week following what it describes as a series of “unsuccessful meetings” with management over unpaid benefits and allowances.

Leadership of the Association said it had issued an ultimatum to management which expired on Friday, October 30 for their grievances to be addressed, but nothing concrete had been agreed on.

Following the expiration of the ultimatum, president of the Association, Alex Nartey said, “the national executive council in consultation with the general members of the Association decided to issue an action plan and it is as follows…

Effective Monday, November 2, Judicial Service Staff of Ghana nationwide would be in red armbands same on Tuesday and Wednesday. If by close of Wednesday we still do not see any positive results then from Thursday we would do a partial withdrawal of our services.

Commenting on the decision of the national executive council, Mr. Nartey said on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show that they are forced to go that direction because what they saw and heard was not encouraging to continue working.

It looks as if our present managers at Finance, Controller and Bank of Ghana lack human face; when they say they have released money, it will take two months but you are aware of where the money has gone to,” he stated.

Sometimes they say warrant and at times the warrant expires and so if you are before a leader and promises to pay in 7 days, practically it does not make any meaning because you will be taken for a ride. The system does not work and so whether the government has money or not, the system by which the money must come through is not effective,” he added.
