Lawyer for some of the judges implicated in the judicial corruption scandal has revealed his clients intentions to sue some media houses and firms that published the video for defamation.
The lawyer, Nii Kpakpo Addo, argued that his clients believe their reputation have been tarnished and will resort to court to seek reliefs.
Nii Kpakpo Addo is representing three of the implicated judges including Justices Paul Derry and Gilbert Ayisi Addo.
One out of the over 30 judges accused of allegedly taking bribes, Justice Paul Derry, has over the past few months dragged a number of firms including investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, to court over the public screening of the video.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Nii Kpakpo said any person who published the said video should be ready to face them in court.
“…That same constitution says that when you violate my right including my reputation, I have a right to go to the law court, bring you before the law court and seek that you have brought evidence, being the so-called evidence to the court and come and prove your allegations. So now, moving on, up to Monday or Tuesday, you will see that we will be bringing up defamation suits that will touch on every single person that has been associated with the said petition, who has republished the defamatory material.”
He explained that, “republication of defamatory materials itself is defamation, so whether you altered it or you republished it you should be prepared to meet us in court.”
