The police Criminal investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service is still searching for Asbke Alanagdi, in connection with the murder of Adams Mahama the upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The Director General of the CID, commissioner of Police (COP) Prosper Kwame Agblor disclosed this to The Ghanaian Times in Accra.
According to him, after completion of investigations and docket forwarded to the Attorney-General, the police had been advised to commence trial of the case because they have enough evidence.
He said Gregory Afoko, who was arrested in connection with the murder would be committed to stand trial at the High Court.
The CID Boss called on the public to provide vital information for the arrest of Alanagdi, who has been on the ran for the past six months.
COP Agblor said any informant would be protected and rewarded handsomely.
It would be recalled that on May 20, Adams Mahama left his office at 7. P.m. in a Toyota pickup with registration number NR 761-14 and reached home around 11pm. As soon as he arrived at the gate of his house, two men signaled him to roll down the glass of his vehicle and they poured acid on his face, head and body and fled.
The victim recognized Gregory Afoko and Asbke Alanagdi and kept shouting the names of the two.
Adam’s wife with the help of neigbours took him to the hospital, and he continued to mention the names of the two.
The police investigations led to the arrest of Afoko but Asabke fled with his wife and left behind a one year-old son.
The police retrieved a blue black track suit with burns and forwarded it the Ghana Standard Board and upon examination it showed that they were caused by acid.
Gregory is in custody facing trial while one other suspect Musa Issah who was alleged to have gone looking for the acid was freed since there was not enough evidence to charge him.
