B5 Plus Limited Wins Prestigious Corporate Awards

The award winning Tema based company B5 Plus Limited, a leading steel company in Ghana has emerged the winner of the best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) 2015 award by the Association of Ghana Industries and also as the steel & metal product of the year 2014 award by Hall of fame.

The AGI award follows what the AGI describes as the company’s immense contribution to the country’s economy and a commitment to develop local content in its operation.

Out of all the steel companies in Ghana, B5 Plus stood out as the best in the related categories after a critical assessment was made by the award organizers in terms of pricing, corporate social responsibility and quality of products manufactured by the company.

B5 Plus is a net exporter of premium steel products to several African countries and has branches in all the 10 regions in Ghana.

With staff strength of over 2,000, world class processing plants and finished steel products of the highest standards, the company that was established in 2002 has drawn plaudits from recognized institutions in Europe and other major countries.

Expressing excitement in an interview the Director, Mr. Mukesh Thakwani, disclosed how grateful he is for his company to be recognized by the AGI, adding it is a plus for his establishment.

He said receiving these awards has not got him swollen headed but instead has challenged the company to offer more quality products and good services to their customers.

“I’m very proud to say that we have been honored by the AGI as the best corporate social responsibility for 2015 and also won the Hall of Fame award as the best company in steel and metal products for the year 2014. Winning these awards has dared us to offer the best of products and services to our loyal customers” he said.

Challenges

Mr. Mukesh is calling on government to tackle various challenges faced by industries in order to boost “Made in Ghana” products to expand the economy.

He cited the current power fluctuation (Dumsor), water supply, taxes and other import duties as the major challenges confronting the company’s productivity.

He is calling for a reduction in taxes and other import duties imposed on raw materials.

The director also referred to other countries where companies are given incentives and said Ghanaian manufacturers can only compete on the international stage when government intervenes.

B5 Plus Limited recently received the Best Firm in Imports and Exports by the Head of State Awards Scheme (HOSA) Ghana Business Awards 2015.

They also picked up the 2015 Investor Award in West Africa at the West African Magazine Awards.

Others include the International Europe Award for Quality and Excellent Service by Globe Trade Leaders’ Club, Best Enterprise Award in the field of Steel Industry by the Socrates Committee, UK and European Award for Quality and Excellent Services in 2013.
