Our CEO Is Arrogant Korle Bu Snr. Staff Bares Teeth

Barring any last minute hitches, the Senior Staff Association of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital will today stage a demonstration against their Chief Executive, Dr. Gilbert Buckle, not because of demands for increase in wages or change in conditions of service, rather, it would be against what they call insolent behavior of their CEO.

According to some of the aggrieved Staff who spoke to The New Crusading GUIDE on condition of anonymity, “the CEO does not have a modicum of respect to any of the Staff here so we want to show him that Korle Bu is not his bonafide property”.

A source at the premier teaching hospital said, the CEO, ever since assuming the position had had altercations with virtually any staff member who had come in contact with him.

The source stated further that, Dr. Buckle had on numerous occasions shown such arrogant posturing to officials of the Ministry of Health and that they are all calling for his sack.

Things went to a head when the Korle Bu CEO sent a letter to the Ministry of Health and described Mr. J.Y.A Appiah, the Director of Administration of the Ministry as “one JYA Appiah”.

That derogatory description infuriated the Director who fired a strongly-worded to the CEO and copied to the Minister of Health pouring out his exception to that description.

Mr. Appiah emphasized in the October letter that, “Boys are titled “Master” and Men are titled “Mister”, even if they do not possess a PHD degree. How dare you refer to me as “one JYA Appiah”? Who gave you permission? Arrogance has never served its master well and will never do so. As the popular saying goes, ‘There is always pride before a fall’.

“Look to the likes of Dr. Dernu, the Medico-Legal the National Aids Control Programme, and learn humility from them” the Director counseled the Dr. Buckle.

The Korle Bu CEO was not readily available for comment yesterday as he was said to be locked up in a meeting.
