XCLUSIV FOTOS: Stars Play To Celebrate 1965 Black Stars Team

The Accra Sports Stadium came alive on Farmers Day Friday December 4, 2015. Some celebrities, staff of Despite Group and former Black Stars Players played soccer to celebrate the gallant 1965 Black Stars Squad. The games which was used to climax the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the 1965 Cup of Nations team was attended by several bigwigs� personalities in the country including former President Jerry John Rawlings, Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi, Sports Minister Dr Mustapha Ahmed, Mr. Osei Kwame Despite, owner of the Despite Group of companies, Dr. Ofori Sarpong of Special Ice among others. Staff of Despite Group opened the day with selected popular personalities including movie stars Kwadjo Nkansah Lilwin, Akrobeto, Salinko among others. They also entertained the crowd with great dance moves. Ghana�s 1992 Black Stars squad which was made up of the likes of Tony Yeboah, Yaw Preko, Nii Odartey Lamptey, Kwesi Appiah, Lord Opoku Nti, Sarfo Gyemfi, Armah Senegal, Sam Johnson, Gago Mohammed, Stanley Aborah, Prince Opoku Polley, Felix Aboakye, goalkeeper Eddie Ansah and Abukari Damba etc could not match the strength of the Ghanaian giants. Asante Kotoko defeated Ghana�s1992 silver medal winning team 4-2 in a friendly game played in honor of the Black Stars 1965 Cup of Nations winning team at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday. The Black Stars squad also featured some guest players such as Charles Taylor, Hamza Mohammed, Mohamed Polo, Frank Osei as well as Osei Yaw, son of ex-National star Osei Kofi. Two goals from new recruit Michael Yeboah and a goal each by Mohammed Dauda and Elvis Amoh were enough to help Kotoko clinch their second straight trophies in a week having won the SIC Nyametei Cup after defeating Ashanti Gold. The 1992 Black Stars team however got their goals through a wonder strike by Frank Osei and a penalty goal by Felix Aboagye.
