Ngleshie Amanfrom Okyeame, Nii Oykeame Odartey has called on the general public to disregard the purported enstoolment of Charles Mensah as the Chief of Ngleshie Amanfro.

Mr. Charles Nii Akramah Mensah was last week allegedly installed as Chief of Ngleshie Amanfro by some faction in the town whilst the sitting Ngleshie Amanfro Chief in the person of Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV is still on the Stool.

In an interview with the Okyeame of Ngleshie, he said the kingmakers have decided to disregard and not to waste their time on the ‘supposed’ installation of Charles Mensah whom he said have served several jail terms and that clearly makes him unfit to occupy the Stool even if the Chief Nii Gborlor is not around.

He stated emphatically that Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV is and remains the legitimate Chief of Ngleshie Amanfro whilst describing the purported enstoolment of Charles Mensah as disgraceful and an unfortunate the case for chieftaincy institution if people with such background as Mr. Mensah can hold themselves as Chiefs.

He stressed again that the installation is illegitimate because it was done without the consent, concurrence and involvement of the recognized Kingmakers of Ngleshie Amanfro, which makes the whole process null and void.

He recounted that a Court Case No.20\86, in the National Public Tribunal Sitting at the Old State House in Accra on the 9th of December 1986 with Justice George Agyekum presiding, Charles Mensah (aka Nii Akramah Nyonmor Bei II) was sentenced to a Two year (2) jail term with hard labor and fined 50,000.00 cedis or in default five (5) years in prison.
He said quite apart from the above Charles Mensah was also charged and imprisoned during former President Kufuor’s regime over several fraudulent activities.

The Okyeame also explained that like any Ghanaian traditional setting, Ngleshie Amanfro practices the chieftaincy rule where leaders are duly nominated, elected and installed after thorough screening and not the ‘fake’ installation of Charles Mensah.

On the allegation that Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV’s membership (gazette) of the National House of Chiefs has been revoked, Okyeame Odartey explained that it does not disqualify him from performing his duties as a Chief because it’s a process a whole process on its own they are using the laid down procedure to correct the anomaly.

The Okyeame pointed out a certain DCOP J.A. Adams (Rtd) who carries himself as the ‘Stool Father’, is the one behind all the troubles. He alleged that Mr. Adams has been on the run after he instructed Kwabla Amoah sometime ago to shoot a former Stool secretary called Mallam Nuhu only to resurface with his own choice of Chief in the person of Mr. Mensah which is set to spark trouble in the town again because they are going to resist him vehemently with all the force they have in their capacity as Kingmakers.

Okyeame Odartey therefore called on the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police Service to move swiftly and arrest the duo.

He stated that at this day and age of human development, Ngleshie Amanfro like any community needs people with foresight and analytic minds to steer the affairs of her people and Charles Mensah is certainly not what Ngleshie Amanfro deserves.
