Minister urges tourism enterprises to pay attention to customer care

Mrs Dzifa Gomashie, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, on Friday urged managers of tourism enterprises to pay crucial attention to service delivery.

"Service is critical in the tourism industry and it’s important not to follow the status quo but rather be different in the sector," she added.

Mrs Gomashie was speaking at the opening of King Pie, a fast food franchise IPS branch in Accra.

King Pie is a South African Pie franchise, which has been introduced into the Ghanaian market.

The brand has been part of the consumer's lives for more than 22 years with a strong South African heritage and the biggest and most successful Pie franchise with more than 280 outlets in South Africa and other countries including Namibia, Zambia and now Ghana.

The King Pie baked in a semi-automated, state of the arts factory with a world class food safety system ensures that the product is of high quality.

The opening of the IPS branch is one of three branches to be opened in Accra, Ghana.

The Minister appealed to management of King Pie to make customer service delivery part of its core values to promote the business.

She lauded the partnership between the South African enterprise and the Ghanaian entrepreneur to enhance economic cooperation.

She advised staff of King Pie Ghana to be dedicated to their customers and work hard to sustain the business in Ghana.

Mr Richard Kokoih, CEO King Pie, Ghana said the Pie is a different brand entering the Ghanaian market and encouraged customers to embrace it.

He said the product goes through 35 quality checks during the baking process and its development team is continuously creating new and exciting flavours and ranges.

Mr Kokoih said the Pies were tested on an ongoing basis by an independent laboratory to confirm there were no pathogens on them.

"Pie are tried and tested by quality panelists before it is approved for consumption," he added.

The CEO said regular DNA testing was done on all its beef and chicken before it was used for the Pie.

Mr Andre Els, CEO King Pie, South Africa said the franchise is expanding into other market including Kenya and Dubai.

He said the brand offered Ghanaians with a variety of hot and fresh Pie with meat, beef and chicken.

He said the Pie is the core value of the business and commended staff for their efforts and support to promote the business.
