Man, 60, Commits Suicide Over Sex

Eric Nunoo Adonteng, a 60-year-old man, has allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself at a drinking spot named Top Hill at Roman Down, a suburb of Asamankese, the municipal capital of Lower West Akim in the Eastern Region.

The deceased’s body has been deposited at the Asamankese Government Hospital for autopsy, while the police are investigating the matter.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the man, who left behind two wives and seven children, wrote a letter stating that one of his wives had been denying him sex. He was reported to have also left some sealed letters for one of his daughters.

The Asamankese District Police Commander, Superintendent Samson Anane Appiah, confirmed to DAILY GUIDE that the incident happened on Saturday.

According to Supt Anane Appiah, when police officers were dispatched to the scene, “we found that he sat on a plastic chair and then loaded a short gun with ammunition before shooting himself through the chest. So when we got there, there was blood gushing out so we took the body to the Asamankese Government Hospital for preservation while investigations continue.”

Superintendent Appiah added that the police are yet to establish the cause of the action of the deceased and appealed to family and friends who took the alleged suicide note from the scene to turn it over to the police to facilitate their investigations.

The police on Monday met with the deceased’s family and have commenced investigations into the matter.
