Lawyer Warns Kofi Adams Over Zanetor Eligibility Saga

Private legal practitioner, Gary Nimako Marfo has asked the National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Adams to desist from interfering in the matter of the eligibility of Dr. Zanetor Rawlings to contest in the recently held NDC parliamentary primaries.

According to him, Kofi Adams has no knowledge of the party and the country’s electoral processes, and must, therefore, stop interfering ‘unnecessarily’ and allow the law to take its course.

There are claims that the newly elected NDC parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korley Constituency, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings is not a registered voter in Ghana. Electoral officials could not find her name in the just ended parliamentary primaries of the ruling party.

Lawyer Nimako Marfo is requesting the EC to make public information on when the name of Dr. Rawlings was entered in Ghana’s electoral roll if indeed she is a registered voter.

Mr Nimako requested the EC to furnish him with the certified copy of the register which contains the details of the NDC candidate.

But Kofi Adams says the move is a ‘useless’ agenda to create unnecessary attention, insisting the NDC is satisfied with Zanetor’s membership. He adds that the NDC is focused on winning the 2016 elections and, therefore, will not allow what he describes as ‘petty issues’ to distract the party’s objective.

Speaking to Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, host of OkayFM's Ade Akye Abia Morning Show Thursday, Lawyer Marfo said the court has given them the green light to serve her (Dr. Zanetor Rawlings) with a writ, and they are ready to challenge her eligibility if the matter is called.

We are not ready to listen to any story from Kofi Adams or any other person because we are ready to challenge our case in court.

“We are doing what the court has directed us to do. Kofi Adams should stop interfering and learn how electoral processes are conducted,” he stated.
