Everybody Has A Stake In Ensuring Security In Our Country - Woyongo

The Minister of Interior, Mr Mark Woyongo, has underscored the need for all Ghanaians to help ensure that peace is well maintained in the country.

The Minister who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Navrongo Central Constituency, made the appeal during the homecoming celebration of the Nayagnia Development Association (NDA), held in Navrongo on Saturday.

He said the country could not compromise the recognition it had chalked at the global level for its peace and stability and urged every Ghanaian to be vigilant and to report any suspected person to the security agencies particularly those harbouring guns.

“Government will continue to resource and empower the security agencies to play their roles in maintaining and sustaining the peace the country is enjoying, but it behooves on every Ghanaian particularly those close to the border towns to support the security by providing them with the needed information to enable them discharge their duties effectively.

“Everyone has a stake in ensuring security in our country,” the Interior Minister stressed.

On education, the MP indicated that the MP Common Fund was not enough to provide support to the numerous brilliant but needy students in the constituency, and urged the Association to establish Educational Endowment Fund to provide support to the students.

The MP who expressed concern about the splinter Associations in the constituency formed across the regional capitals of the country, drummed home the need for the formation of one umbrella Association like the BONABOTO.

Responding to some of the concerns raised by the people, the MP gave the assurance that he would help de-silt the dam in the community and renovate the Junior High School in the area as well as help provide jobs for the youth under Youth Employment programme.

He mentioned the provision and construction of water facilities, renovation and expansion of CHPS compounds, road networks and the drainage systems among others embarked by him in the Constituency.

Professor Sylvester Achio, the Chairman of the Nayagnia Development Association in charge of the Accra-Tema branch, told the members at the dinner dance that the entire Association needed to raise GHC40,000.00 to complete the library project initiated by the Association in Navrongo.

He said the Library project when completed would not only serve the Nayagnia community, but other surrounding communities in the constituency and entreated all to contribute towards the completion of the project.
