Road And Transport Select Committee Justifies Petroleum Tax

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Road and Transport, Theophilus Tetteh-Chai has justified the increase in petroleum tax.

He said it is only through these tax regimes that government can raise money to fund infrastructure projects.

Mr. Tetteh-Chai who spoke to George Asekere on Behind the News said in as much such increase may be challenging for the average Ghanaian it is also necessary as they yield much economic benefits.

A Tax Expert, Ali Nachia Abdullah said taxes may be important for the development of a country but the timing should be considered as well as preparing the people way before such taxes are rolled out.
