Coconut Seller Stabbed

Residents of Mbrom in Kumasi on Wednesday morning were met with the horrific news of the killing of a popular coconut seller in the city.

The deceased, whose real name was not readily available to the paper, was found lying dead close to a roundabout at Mbrom, early in the morning.

There were blood stains all over his body, which was covered with house flies. Stab wounds were found on his chest and neck.

The coconut seller, believed to be in his early 30s, was suspected to be attacked and killed by armed robbers.

Reports indicated that the coconut seller plied his trade at the Dr. Mensah Area and was known by a lot of people there.

The deceased was said to be in possession of a lot of money on Tuesday evening when he closed from work.

It was believed that some robbers might have trailed him from the Dr. Mensah Area and eventually attacked him at the Mbrom roundabout.

The coconut seller, the residents conjectured, might have struggled with the robbers when they ordered him to surrender the money on him resulting in them stabbing him and fleeing with the cash.

Rita, a resident in the area intimated that the cruel murder of the coconut seller had sparked fear and tension among people in the hitherto peaceful area.

The police were said to have started investigations to arrest the culprits.
