Students To Pay Utilities Is Non-Negotiable - NUGS

The NUGS Press and Information Secretariat has chanced on a stakeholders meeting called by the Ministry of Education to discuss the payment of utilities in the public tertiary institutions on Friday, 5th February, 2016 , however I want to univocally state that "STUDENTS TO PAY UTILITIES IS NON-NEGOTIABLE ESPECIALLY IN THIS HARDSHIP ECONOMY"

This statement has become necessary due to the previous stakeholders meeting held on 25th March 2015 at UPSA which brought a lot of tension and controversies and ended by students leaders denouncing the recommendations made at the said meeting.

To predict the outcome of such stakeholders meeting with an unjust representation and entrenched position stakeholders, is as easy as predicting politicians and promises.

The meeting would see only two student leaders (NUGS President and GNUPS President) representing all Ghana students which has the largest constituents, meanwhile all the other stakeholders would be fairly represented.

I am by this statement calming all Ghana Students down that NUGS is still resolute on its stance on utilities and the struggle still continues.

Lastly, I wish to re-echo the voice of ordinary Ghanaian Students who are struggling to pay the already existing fees which says "WE CANNOT PAY UTILITIES ESPECIALLY IN THIS HARDSHIP ECONOMY".

It is my humble plea that the Government of Ghana hears the loud cry of Ghanaian students and settle the debts it owes utility providers and continue to pay the utilities for a better education in Ghana.

Thank you.
