AshGold coach Bashiru Hayford wants to retire due to poor officiating

Ashanti Gold trainer Bashiru Hayford has hinted he will retire from coaching due to the poor officiating in the country.

Hayford failed to win the Super Cup with his team after suffering a painful 1-0 defeat to Medeama Sc on Sunday.

The Ghana Champions were hoping to win their second preseason trophy after clinching the Otumfuo Cup.

An 83rd minute strike from substitute Bernard Ofori denied the Miners their first ever Super Cup title.

Ofori capitalized on a loose marking to slot the ball past Fatau Dauda after Emmanuel Frimpong had his effort blocked by the AshGold defense.

The referee’s decision to make the goal stand however raised controversy at the stadium following a similar goal scored by Ashanti Gold which had earlier been denied by the referee.

The situation however saw the Ghanaian giants refusing to receive their medals at the end of the game.

Bashiru Haford is considering quitting the game at the end of the season due to the “unfair” officiating from referees.

“It is very disheartened to see a perfect goal disallowed by a referee while the opponent was awarded with the same goal, For me the kind of things going on in the country regarding officiating, God willing at the end of the season I will call it a quit,” Bashiru Hayford told Hot FM.

The former Asante Kotoko coach is expected to guide his side to make an impact in this year’s CAF Confederations Cup.
