The Accra Human Rights Court yesterday adjourned the case between the management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Senior Staff Association to March 3.
The court, presided over by Justice Anthony K. Yeboah, adjourned the case after counsel for the defendants, the management of the Hospital, filed an application seeking to strike out the names of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Gilbert Buckle, and the chairperson of the Disciplinary Board, Mrs Perpetua Annan, from the writ of summons originally filed by the Senior Staff Association.
On February 3, the Senior Staff Association sued the management of the hospital for initiating processes to sanction five of its senior members who accused the management of corruption and mismanagement.
The association resorted to the Accra High Court to ask the court to, among others, to declare the disciplinary procedures against them null and void.
In an interview with Citi News, counsel for the Senior Staff Association, Samuel Crabbe, said the adjournment was to give them time to be served with the application from the lawyers of the Korle Bu hospital management.
“Basically we are in court to move an application for interlocutory injunction, however, the defendant actually applied to the court for an order to strike out the names of the CEO and the chairperson of the board,” he explained.
Lawyer Crabbe further noted, the plaintiffs of the court case had not been served with the said motion yet.
“They want the two of their names to be struck out from the writ of summons for stated reasons, however, the said motion was filed only this morning and we the plaintiffs, we have not been served with the said motion.”
