Government�s Pro-Poor School Interventions Ongoing - MCE

Mr Kwabena Nkansah Asare, the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has assured the people that the Ministry of Education would continue with its pro-poor intervention programmes.

“The Government will go ahead with its social interventions of the supply of free school uniforms, sandals, textbooks, and exercise books in addition to the school feeding programme and the capitation grant,” he said.

Mr Asare said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Akim Oda.

He said government’s educational infrastructure expansion was ongoing and that 123 out of the 200 Community Day Senior High Schools with science resource centres and information and communication technology centres were under construction to increase equitable access to quality education at all levels.

He said the Youth Employment Agency with allocated funds of 50 million Ghana cedis was recruiting over 100,000 youth this year and that in the Birim Central Municipality 500 youth were being trained under five modules.

The MCE called on the youth in the area to get involved in the Youth Enterprise Support Programme which had been created by the Government to reduce unemployment in the country.
