Bukom Banku Victims Speak Out

The three ladies who suffered brutalities at the hands of Briamah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku, who is currently on police bail, have narrated a story of sheer brutish conduct on the part of the pugilist.

Eunice Naa Odakor Lamptey, 30, Charlotte Naa Densua Doodo, 21, and Beatrice Naa Tre Doodo are still nursing their wounds after their ordeal.

“The incident happened exactly a week ago at about 5:30 pm when I and my friends were sitting at Bukom,” Eunice narrated.

“I was not feeling well so I was lying down while my friends were chatting with me. As we were talking, Bukom Banku and his girlfriend, one Fante Dede, came to stand by us also chatting. Bukom Banku gestured in an insulting manner,” Eunice claimed.

Bukom Banku, she said, asked his girlfriend to expose her breasts for them (ladies) to see because she is more beautiful than them.

“We did not say anything to them and even his girlfriend was shy but he told her not to regard us because we were nobodies,” she added and continued, “We were by that time chatting and laughing so he thought we were laughing at him because his girlfriend did not do it.”

Eunice indicated that the boxer started raining insults on them and their mothers.

It was then that Charlotte, whose mother he was insulting, told him not to include her mother’s name in the insults.

“As soon as Charlotte finished talking, he slapped her and punched her in the face, leaving her with a cut on her chin. When her younger sister Beatrice got up to help her, the boxer punched her in the abdomen several times,” Eunice narrated.

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command, where the aggrieved ladies reported the incident, detained the pugilist and prepared him for court but this is yet to materialise as he is on bail.

Yesterday scores of journalists who turned up at an Accra circuit court with intent to see the suspect in the dock were disappointed because Bukom Banku was not in court.

Although the case was not heard yesterday, sources say Banku would be charged today before an Accra Gender-Based Violence Circuit Court, despite alleged desperate attempts by some top politicians to kill the case.
