2 Friends Beat Man To Death

Two friends who allegedly beat another man to death during a fight in a bar at Nkanfoa, a suburb of Cape Coast, have been remanded into prison custody by a Cape Coast District Magistrate’s Court.

Kofi Appiah, 40, a driver and Kweku Enu, 25, a mason, are charged with murder but their plea was not taken and the case was adjourned to Tuesday, April 19.

Appiah, who was in court with a big plaster covering a wound he allegedly sustained on the left side of his head during the fight, is to be given medical attention while in custody.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Christina Sampong told the court, presided over by Mrs. Rita Amonyiwa Edusah, that the deceased, Kweku Jack and the accused persons lived at Nkanfoa.

She said at about 9:30 p.m., on Friday, April 1, Appiah and Jack were drinking in a bar when a fight ensued between them.

She said in the course of the fight, Appiah sustained injuries and rushed to the hospital, leaving Jack under a palm tree close to his house.

Chief Inspector Sampong said Enu, who heard the news, rushed to the scene   and also attacked and beat Kweku mercilessly, after which he went to Appiah’s house with bloody hands to wash himself.

The following day, Kweku was found dead under the palm tree and the police was informed.

The body has been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital pending autopsy.
