Voltarians Would Break The Unprofitable Relationship With NDC ChairmanWontumi

The twist and turns surrounding the debate over which political party boast of a better record in the Volta Region would certainly surge on for a while.

In recent weeks, several political figures from the two major political parties in Ghana have been embroiled in lengthy debate; enumerating countless infrastructure projects they have either completed or started in the region.

Latest to add his voice is Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party who believes the record of his party stands taller than that of the National Democratic Congress.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman ‘Wontumi’ explains to Peacefmonline.com that had the NPP not seen the need to bring massive development to Volta Region, several areas in the region would have remained underdeveloped till date.

He argues that until the NPP came to power, the region had been under resourced when it comes to infrastructure development despite it being referred to as the ‘World Bank’ of NDC.

He charged voters from the region to score the NDC zero percent and vote them out for disrespecting them over the little development they have brought to the area.

Chairman ‘Wontumi’ appealed to voters in the region not to remain hard hearted and blindly follow the "unprofitable tradition" of voting for the incompetent NDC if they care about the future of their children.

According to him, the NPP would enjoy massive from the region in this year’s elections and the NDC’s relationship which has yielded nothing but retrogression in the region would be broken.

Prior to Chairman ‘Wontumi’s’ comment, the New Patriotic Party in the Volta Region had accused President John Dramani Mahama of deliberately instigating inhabitants of the Volta Region against them in a desperate move to hold onto power.

At a press conference held in Ho to respond to statements made by the President during his recent visit to the chiefs and people of Anlo, the Regional Chairman of the NPP, John Peter Amewu, accused President John Mahama of playing the tribal card and erroneously attributing all development projects in the region to his NDC party to ostensibly set the region against the NPP.

Just within the Anlo State, where the president visited, 15 towns and villages received water extension schemes, notable among them, is the coastal belt water supply schemes at Adina, Blekusu, Amutinu and Glidzi-Afuta and Avloto.

He also accused the NDC of squandering money meant for the development of the Volta Region particularly in their handling of the Keta Sea Defense Project.

He also drew attention to the fact his government constructed the Ho Polytechnic and roads from Nkonya through to Dambai.
