PHOTOS: Students Boycott NDC Campus Connect?

An attempt to relaunch the Campus Connect programme of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), hit a major snag when students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) failed to show up for the UCC edition of the forum on Tuesday.

The Main Auditorium of the University, where the programme was held, remained overwhelmingly empty from beginning of the forum till the end, despite the presence of almost a dozen government appointees and party officials of the NDC.

Officials advertised as part of the Campus Connect team that stormed the University include, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, Deputy Minister for Education, Fiifi Kwettey, Minister for Transport, Kweku Rickett-Hagan, Central Regional Minister, Dr. Victor Bampoe, Deputy Minister of Health, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Deputy Minister for Transport, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Deputy Minister of Communications and Kobby Acheampong, CEO for GIFEC.

The attempt to relaunch the Campus Connect programme is thought to be a reaction to the series of Campus forums held by NPP Vice-Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia across the country which has seen thousands of students participating. The latest Campus Dr. Bawumia has visited in his series of Campus interactions is the University of Education, Winneba where thousands of students poured out to listen to the renowned economist.

The commencement of the Campus Connect programme some months ago was also seen as a reaction to the NPP number two, who at the time was visiting some Campuses in the three regions of the North.

However, the programme had to be put on hold after students of the Wesley College of Education embarrassed officials of the government who visited their Campus.
