Political Evangelism Hits Kdua

A civil society group, ‘Political Evangelism’ would this Sunday move its campaign trail to the doorsteps of people in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital as it seeks to educate voters on the importance and consequences of voting in a democratic dispensation.

“We are not campaigning for a political party. We are only seeking to educate the populace on why they should vote, what they should look out for before settling on who to vote, what to expect from politicians after voting them to power, among others”, Charles Owusu, Convenor of the group told The New Crusading GUIDE yesterday in an exclusive interview.

The public interaction is expected to be held at the Koforidua Jackson Park on Sunday at 4pm.

Explaining the rationale behind the formation of the group, Mr Owusu said, “the goal of an election is to select well competent persons and political parties to protect the resources of the country as well as distributing them fairly and equally”

“We do not elect leaders to dabble in tokenism. We have to vote leaders who would look beyond putting up schools. We need visionary leaders. We need to elect leaders whose policies would positively affect the whole country”.

According to him, “election is not voting for someone because of his ethnic group or his way of dressing. Election is a serious business because the mistake you make in voting the wrong person would live with you for at least four years. You will pay dearly for it so we are committed to educating the voting populace to make the right choices”.

‘Political Evangelism’ was launched a couple of weeks ago in Accra with hundreds of people sharing their views on why and how they vote.

He said the “evangelism would go across the whole country until the November polls”.

He entreated Political Scientists and good governance experts to join him educate the masses on elections and its related matters.
