Manhyia North MP Drops Charges Against Chairman Wontumi

The Manhyia North MP Collins Owusu Amankwah has written to the Ashanti Regional Police, asking them to drop all charges brought against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.

Collins Owusu Amankwah was allegedly assaulted by Chairman Wontumi while monitoring the ongoing registration exercise.

The case was reported to the Ashanti Regional Police Command and Chairman Wontumi was subsequently taken to court and granted bail. 

A letter written by his lawyers, indicates that he (MP) now intends to pursue an out of court settlement.

Collins Owusu Amankwah and Mr. Felix Ibrahim and it is on that instruction that we write. Our clients are complainants in the above mentioned case against the Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako. Our clients have instructed us to their decision to pursue settlement and have accordingly instructed us to serve you notice of their said intention. We would be grateful if you could graciously suspend further action on the case to enable the parties in good faith resolve the issue in pursuit of the said settlement”.
