'Chairman Wontumi' Does Not Befit Such An Act

Executive Director for the Ghana Institute of Governance and Security (GIGS), David Agbee has condemned acts by the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako a.k.a. ‘Chairman Wontumi’ as unfair and unjust especially from a person of his caliber.

‘Chairman Wontumi’ allegedly slapped the Manhyia North MP and assaulted constituency Secretary, Felix Ibrahim during the limited voter registration exercise at Krofrom, a suburb of Kumasi over the weekend.

‘Chairman Wontumi’ claimed the Manhyia North MP, Collins Owusu Amankwah is part of the secret agents ‘flirting’ with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, ‘Chairman Wontumi’ should have at least considered his position in the party and the amount of respect he receives from residents before involving himself in such an act.

In an interview with Okay FM morning show host Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie, he noted that “I was much amazed when the news between ‘Chairman Wontumi’ and the MP for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwa broke up because they are both respected members of the party that I didn’t expect that from.”

“Issues of such nature must be addressed and not left un-resolved by party executives, as it can generate problems for the party as time goes on. Therefore leaders of the NPP must find time to solve the issue at hand – why the MP for the area is against the flag bearer of the party.“

He said “It would be wrong for a member of the NPP like Kennedy Agyapong MP for Assin Central to commend what ‘Chairman Wontumi’ did”, as he warned members of the party to bear in mind that their character and actions would send signals to the ordinary Ghanaian whether NPP deserves power or not .
