NDC Boys Fight Over Toilet Cash?

It has now emerged that the heated exchange of blows between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Organizer for Takoradi Constituency, Nana Yaw Koomson, and his constituency Secretary, Issaka Mohammed, some few days ago, was over disagreement of the sharing of proceeds from public toilets in the constituency.

Koomson and Issaka had a showdown at the Takoradi NDC constituency office in Amanful last week, creating euphoria for residents who had not witnessed a live boxing match for years.

It was Koomson who got most of his punches on target as he threw straight blows into the face of Issaka, resulting into a cut on his forehead.

Interestingly, residents who converged at the scene did not have the courage to intervene and stop the fight as they stoodby and watched for several minutes before the eventual intervention of some youth.

After the two were separated, Koomson was heard complaining furiously on the top of his voice saying: “because of your selfish interest, you want to derail my efforts. I spend time and resources organizing the youth and encouraging them that things would be well but because of your selfish interest all these efforts are being made to go waste”.

His utterances did not give any clear reason for the heated fight that afternoon, causing speculation among residents.

But, The New Crusading GUIDE is reliably informed that the fight was over the alleged squandering of money from public toilets by Issakah and two other constituency executives.

Party insiders, told this paper that Issakah together with the constituency Communication Officer, Baba Ali, and the constituency Chairman, Illiasu, have allegedly taken over the management of all public toilets in the constituency and have been sharing the proceeds.

Koomson, who is the Youth Organizer, disagrees with such an arrangement, claiming that many NDC youth in the constituency were unemployed and could hardly make ends meet, therefore, the proceeds should have been used to cushion the unemployed youth, sources say.

According to NDC sources in the constituency, Koomson who had been receiving complaints of frustration from unemployed NDC youth, got peeved and stormed the party office to cause the mayhem since his suggestion on the toilet proceeds was repeatedly disregarded.

When this reporter contacted Koomson, he refused to disclose the reason behind the fight, saying it was a slight disagreement and it has been resolved.

As for Issaka, he blatantly denied having any confrontation with Koomson though a plaster is still covering the wound on his forehead which resulted from Koomson’s punches.
