More Rains And Floods Await Us . . . -Meteorologist Predicts

A meteorologist from the Ghana Meteorological Department, Mr Portuphy has predicted there will be more rains and floods in the country as the country is currently experiencing monsoon rain which will continue to the rain season.

He explained that the moisture in the sea which causes the rainfall has increased, making the rain to fall frequently for a long time.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Mr. Portuphy revealed that the monsoon rain will break but will soon reach the raining season as the rain will continue.

“There will be more rain and flooding will eventually hit us and so we have to prepare ourselves to prevent calamities...if we have good drainage system in place, the flooding will come but it may not affect us,” he advised.

Hinting on the cause of flooding, Mr. Portuphy said most of the flooding are based on the fact that almost all the places in Accra are asphalted and cemented, forcing the rains to move to homes to cause havoc.

Meanwhile, long hours of rain at the weekend left parts of Accra flooded with rain water but the Meteorologist has reminded Ghanaians the rain will continue till reaches its neutral point to end the monsoon season to pave way for the usual raining season.
