Sanja Nanja Served Defamation Writ

Member of Parliament for Atebubu/Amantin Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region, Sanja Nanja has finally been served with a court summon letter from the Wenchi High Court for defamation.

The suit was filed at the Wenchi High Court on Thursday April, 27, 2016.

A press release signed by Kofi Amofa, Secretary to the queen mother said, she took the decision because the abusive words used on her by the MP “has provoked public disaffection for her and has also exposed her to public ridicule and contempt.”

The queen mother is praying the court to award damages against the defendant in the sum of GHc 500,000. An order of perpetual injunction is also being sought to restrain the defendant from writing, printing and publishing further words and defamatory statements against her.

Speaking to Adom News, Kofi Amofa, said ever since the writ was filed, the MP has been at large but finally they have gotten the opportunity to present him the writ at his home in Accra, Monday.

“We have tried several times to give the summoned letter to the MP but almost a month now he has been playing "hide and seek game" and God been so good we have today (Monday)at his house in Accra” he said.

According to him, Sanja Nanja is expected to enter his appearance within eight days at the same court “if not we will go to the court for another action against him”.
