Deputy Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fred Agbenyo has admitted that the over increment of electricity tariff is a blunder and will be resolved soon.

According to him, he was affected by the mischance but authorities have assured to pay back all consumers with ‘ECG credits’ as compensation.

“All those charged excessively will be compensated. We are hoping this will be done in due time. I’m been told,” he said on NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie'.

Fred Agbenyo's comment comes after Parliamentary select committee on energy summoned the EC boss for questioning today.

They are expected to be grilled on the incessant complaints from consumers over inflated bills and other anomalies in the billing system of the power distributor.

Chairman of the Select Committee on Energy,Alhaji Amadu Sorogho said the MPs are going ahead with their probe despite a directive from the PURC for a suspension of the new billing system.

“ECG’s Managing Director has also been asked to appear before the select committee to explain the current problem that is confronting consumers, some of the bills have even been increased by more than 300 percent,” the lawmaker said.
