Tension Mounting Again In Krofrom As Police Fail To Release Tawiahs Body

There is uneasy calm once more in Krofrom in the Ashanti region as relatives of Richmond Osei popularly known as Tawiah are mad with officials of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the Police Service following their failure to release Tawiah’s body for burial.

The family had planned to hold the final funeral rites for the 22-year-old who died after he was allegedly brutalized by the Police today Thursday June 9 in Krofrom.

But the funeral has been put on hold because management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital insists it will only release the remains of Tawiah after they are given official clearance from the Police Service.

A family source told Kumasi-based Ultimate FM that the Police command claim they will only give orders for the body to be released for burial if the family accepts the autopsy report.

The Police command is reportedly demanding an unqualified apology from Tawiah’s family for insulting its members and invoking curses on them following Tawiah’s death.

Family members are angry and disappointed over the action by the police claiming that the decision not to release the body has come at a great cost them.

Richmond Osei was allegedly brutalized to death by police personnel a fortnight ago after they suspected him of being a criminal.
