Inflation rate for May has risen to 18.9 per cent from the 18.7 per cent recorder in April.
The rise was attributed to the non-food group which includes transport, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels.
Greater Accra recorded the highest inflation rate of 22.6 higher than the national average while Upper East recorded the lowest rate of 15.0 percent.
The year on year non-food inflation rate for May 2016 was 25.0 compared with the 24.8 per cent in April 2016.
The year on year food inflation for May 2016 was 8.5, compared with the 8.4 percent recorded in April 2016.
The year on year non-food inflation rate of 25.0 per cent was about three times that of the food inflation of 8.5 per cent for May 2016.
The year on year rate for locally produced items which is 19.0 per cent was 0.5 percentage point higher than that of the imported items which stands at 18.5 percent.
