Afienya New Jerusalem Residents Declare No Road, No Vote

Some aggrieved residents of Afienya New Jerusalem in the Greater Accra region have threatened to boycott this year’s election if the road network leading to the town is not fixed.

According to them even with their countless complaints about the nature of the five kilometer road to the necessary authorities, the road is still in that disastrous state.

Some of the residents who spoke to Adomonline.com said they feel neglected and betrayed by the politicians who promised to construct the road.

They questioned the essence of voting for any political leader, when according to them, they are “only going to be abandoned with their challenges at the end of the day.”

The situation, a resident noted is affecting economic activities in the area as commercial vehicles have refused to ply the route.

“Just last week, woman with her three months old baby and four year old son old were seriously drenched in the rain at an area called TOR junction because no vehicle was ready to transport them to their destination due to the bad nature o of the road” a resident bemoaned.

He wondered what would happen if someone is sick or a pregnant woman is in labour with no car to send them to the hospital.

The residents who are planning to put a big ‘No road, No vote banner on the junction leading to the town, have also threatened to deal ruthlessly with any politician who will come to the area for political campaigns.
